Mrs Mary Hamill, aged 89, went to be with her Lord on 10th October. She was saved as a girl of 13, and was later baptised and received into the Ahoghill Assembly. She was later in the Ballybollen Assembly, and then for many years in the assembly at Crosskeys. She was a gentle, gracious Christian lady, who loved the Lord and His people. Her kind hospitality was enjoyed by many, and with her late husband she sought to support the gospel and encourage those who preached it. She was lovingly cared for by her family during her illness, and prayer is valued for them all. Her funeral was large when words of tribute and gospel were spoken by S Jennings, J Rogers, R Pickering, ably assisted by others.
David McCombe Locke, aged 66, called home on 25th September. Born and raised in Prestwick, he was saved on 8th February, 1959, aged 16, under the preaching of Peter Brandon. He was baptised and added to fellowship in Bethany Hall, Prestwick, where as a young man he became actively involved in preaching and evangelism in local towns and villages. As a teenager, he knew the Lord was calling him to do the work of an evangelist. Along with his wife Jeanette, he was commended to full time service by the assemblies in Prestwick and Stevenston in 1972. For the next 7 years, based in Langholm, he served his Lord in the Borders of Scotland, mainly in door to door evangelism and childrens meetings. In 1979 he moved to Boness, and continued the same work in east central Scotland until 2002. Throughout those 30 years, he spent the summer months working in the Lake District, in conjunction with Cumbria Gospel Outreach, and in 2002 his work took him there permanently. Living in Workington, he evangelised in the local agricultural shows and markets, as well as ongoing door to door work. During his seven years in Cumbria, he was also widely involved in teaching in the local assemblies. Prayer is requested for Jeanette and family.
Mrs Lily Morrell (née Morrison), aged 94 years, went to be with Christ on 30th October. She was saved in 1929 while attending gospel meetings conducted by Mr Poots and Mr Kells near her home in the Tivaconavey area of County Londonderry. Some time later Lily was baptised and received into fellowship in the assembly at Tivaconavey. She and her late husband Alex had a great interest in the Lords work and they opened their home to visiting preachers who came to the area to make known the gospel. With advancing years came physical limitations, so her last few years were spent in sheltered accommodation and nursing care. Lily was a happy Christian who will be missed by all who knew her. Her private funeral was conducted by James and Wesley Martin.
Mrs Marion Wigston (née Bingham), aged 74, went to be with Christ on 4th October. She was saved while attending gospel meetings conducted by Mr Harold Paisley in the Market House in Rathfriland, County Down in 1948. Some time after her salvation, Marion was baptised and received into assembly fellowship, initially in Ballykeel and latterly in Annalong. She was of a kindly disposition and given to hospitality and will be greatly missed by her family circle. A large number of local people and relatives attended her funeral and heard the gospel preached by Brian Currie, Alan Davidson, and Wesley Martin with Stanley Haugh and James Martin sharing in prayer. Prayer is requested for her three sons and one daughter and their families as well as her brother Mr Tommy Bingham.
