SCOTLAND Reports

Brethren George Meikle and Roy Marshall have commenced meetings in the village of Carnock in Fife, on a Monday evening in the community centre. We have been encouraged at the number of local saints attending, first thirteen and then eighteen, but no villagers. However, we continue to visit the homes of the area, and have already been back to four people with copies of Ultimate Questions. These meetings will continue into December, and we value prayer for the Lord’s blessing, that some may attend, and enjoy the salvation of God.

Dunbar: During late June and into July, gospel meetings were held once again in this east coast town using the Portable Hall. Stephen Grant and Jim Paterson jnr were responsible for the preaching with Robert Miller sharing on two of the weekends. There were a number of unsaved present each night of the meetings, with two men in particular showing interest. One of these men is a native of Iran although he has been in UK since 1973, and in spite of trying various denominations while living in Edinburgh, claimed never to have heard the gospel until the meetings. The brethren from Mayfield assembly have arranged to collect him for their weekly gospel meeting. Children’s meetings were also held, with a group of boys in their early teens attending each evening. These boys showed good interest and contact will be maintained with them to keep the gospel before them. Graeme Paterson was responsible for this work. Christians from several denominations in the town attended the meetings and claimed to have been uplifted with the gospel message preached. Support from assembly believers who travelled a distance to the meetings was much appreciated as was help with tracting before the meetings commenced. Please continue to pray for this area that there may be blessing following the preaching.

Bellaghy: The assembly here have had edifying and challenging ministry during their conference in May and other visits from ministering brethren during the summer with reports of the Lord’s work in Brazil from G Buchanan and others.

The assembly became aware of quite a number of Brazilian and Portuguese speaking people living and working in their area, and they had an exercise to reach out to them. They arranged gospel meetings in the language of the people with G Buchanan and other missionary brethren who speak the language along with A Colgan who spoke by interpretation. Good numbers came for two weeks and showed interest. Pray for this work. D Donaghy had a series of meetings for children with a good response. BELFAST & DISTRICT

M Radcliffe and W Fenton preached the gospel simply and clearly with a great sense of the power of God in evidence. The numbers of local unsaved people who responded to the invitation to come was most encouraging. The Word sown will doubtless bear fruit in due season.
